usually last minute....

but i got them today...

today, i braved the shopping fray, jumped in and got a hold of several wedding goodies...

Hobby Lobby was having a 50% sale and i also caught a 50% off sale at this silk floral warehouse where i didn't buy silk flowers but i did buy an aisle runner. its fabric, 50 feet (the exact length of my aisle) and it was $14.

honestly, the aisle runner was not something i cared about...my mother deemed it a necessary bridal accessory, and since i didnt care, i gave in. why? bc she needs to feel like she's contributing...like she's getting something too....so why not give her something that i could care less about?

i also got 2 great silk floral wreaths for the chapel doors (my favorite purchase of the day).....they incorporate the burnt orange....they have a great "Autumn" feel. they were a twinge above what i wanted to spend ($25 vs $20) but bc they really give off the flair i was hoping for, so i got them. plus i can reuse them in our house afterwards.

i got a cake server and knife set. $5. very basic with clear acrylic handles. i plan to tie some pretty ribbon around that.

got a garter and toss away garter set.....the main garter is ivory, vintagey lacey goodness with pearls. no, there are no pearls on my dress, but no one is going to see this thing except LR and for $6, it was a good deal.

i got toasting glasses. funny story here.....i was going back and forth bw the toasting flutes. there was a mod pair with the dot motif that looked cool. they were flared flutes. then another pair that were oversized but more traditional looking. i liked the classic shape of them. the 2nd pair was supposed to read "mr. and mrs" but with closer inspection i realized the glasses said "Mr. and Mr." ! it tickled me quite a bit and i jokingly considered getting them for just that reason. it was something that was totally unexpected and off beat. and who else would notice? no one but the photographer and us....i talked the mgr into an additional discount and scored the his and his glasses for $6.

got my flower girl basket. $3. a brown wicker basket that i plan to "zhouzh' up with some burnt orange satin. i will be iy-ing the ring pillow to match....

i got a quill pen set. $5.

i got some bath confetti to put in my bm gift bags. $1 each. i grabbed a cute ring dish for my ring. on the side written in script is "Got the Ring. Bling, Bling, Bling". random, cute and $3.

i bought 7 golden/coppery chargers for $1.87 a piece. these will be the stands for the candle centerpieces we will have that will offset the tall dramatic goodness the florist will be doing.

even LR got in on the action and bought the pillar candles from Ikea today in the citywherehelives. they were more at his store than what was stated online. $9.99 for a 5 pack vs $7.99 as stated on the website, but still a good deal.

a pack of 12 candle votives for $2.50. i'm thinking about using these for the sweetheart table....or maybe our wedding nite. whichever....

the majority of the decor and small things are taken care of. there should only be a few odds and ends to secure. possibly some silk petals for the aisle runner. maybe some of those glass beads (or coffee beans) for the candle centerpieces.

a box for the cards. i saw some of those bird cages today, but i wasn't completely sold. i also saw a small trunk that could work as a card box. it fit in the color scheme and i thought it would look great with some burnt orange satiny fabric lining the inside....at $12 it was a good deal....and reusable as storage/decor in our home, but i'd already racked up so many goodies, so i decided to wait on this one. this was a project i have considered diy-ing. we'll see what happens.

a guest/wish book....i had considered buying one of those nice scrapbooks for guests to write well wishes yearbook style. i didnt really look for that today.

sand ceremony stuff. i looked for the receptacles for this but didn't see anything i liked. friends of ours used flasks for this ceremony in their wedding as a nod to their chemistry field. we're thinking this could be quite cool....we have the flask they used in their centerpiece and i just might reuse it in our sand ceremony. but there are some things i need to work out on that so no purchases yet.....

and i am sure there might be a thing or two more that i am forgetting........

one thing i saw and noticed. i dont really care for the look of the silk petals i saw today. they all looked very cheap. :( i dont mind buying cheap things but i dont like them to look cheap. so i am unsure about about what i'll do for flower petals.

and one of the best, bestest parts? my shopping buddy, K from church is going to be my wedding coordinator!!!! woo hoo!!!! since the florist will be handling the majority of the decor, i get to utilize K and C in another practical extremely useful way.

and they've already booked their hotel! how great is that??? i feel good about this decision. K and C already have a business plan written up and plan to be in business for themselves early next year. possibly even the end of this year!

sweet relief. happy day.

now i'm tired and will be going to bed soon.....

Lady T -- I it okay if I "steal" your ticker idea? I'm getting close and really would like to see a count down of my days. :-)

Wow -- so much stuff. How did you find a fabric aisle runner for so cheap? All I can find are plastic ones for $25.00-- and they are not made well at all!

Wow, it sounds like you got some great deals! I love the 'bling bling bling' idea!

By the way, I'm having a really simple wedding band that will cost about £100 ($200) and I really like the idea, because it kind of fits with the thing that you'll never take it off... and a blingier ring would be great for an anniversary :)

Sounds great!

But, what is a "sand ceremony?" Never heard of it!
